Resume Education Section: Learn How to present it on your Resume

You are all set with the initial sections in the resume such as contact details, career objective, and skills. Let’s now move on to the next important category which is the educational qualifications.  There are diverse opinions regarding the inclusion of this category in the resume.

Some people are of the opinion that this section should be included in the beginning of the resume. It is true in case of an entry level resume. Here, the educational qualifications play a very important role. However, some others believe that educational qualification should be included below the skills.

A smart way to avert this confusion is to list your educational qualification between the skills and work experience. In case of entry level resume, you can list down the educational qualification after the skills.  If your educational qualification and scores are not up to the mark, then you can easily surpass it. You can include it below the work experience.

This section should include information about the degrees. It should begin with the highest level of education followed by the others in reverse chronological order. You should include it in the table form or listed using bulleted points. You have to create a separate category below the list of your formal education. It should include information about the internships, projects and awards.

You can refer to the samples available in various resume websites. This will give you a brief idea about the right method for writing it. The guidelines mentioned above will help you to properly draft your education section. In the next blog, we would be discussing about the right method for drafting a work experience segment in your resume.
